September Newsletter

Hello El Toro Soccer Parents!

I hope everyone is having a great start to another school year!  On behalf Coach Grimes I’d like to express our gratitude for all the support you’ve shown.  We are impressed by your dedication to your sons’ success in school and in soccer.

Summer League saw the return of most of our team being stronger and smarter players. Our incoming freshman class showed real potential for a solid future.

Watching the US Women’s National Team winning the World Cup in August at The Tap House was a fun and memorable event that resulted in $106 contributing to our soccer program.

Big thanks to all who helped out at the Car Wash in August. The players sold 80 tickets, contributing $1,084 to the program.  We were invited to repeat the event in November, watch for more information to come!

The Tryouts in early September brought 20 fresh minds and skills eager to be part of our team.  We are proud to be in a community with such a deep pool of talent.

7th Period has been fun!  Mondays and Wednesdays are Study Hall where players get to work on homework. On Tuesdays Coach Grimes takes the class through a series of body weight exercises to improve cardio and strength conditioning.  Thursdays are reserved for Technical and Tactical sessions when the class works on footwork and ball work.

To further foster teamwork and comradery, each Freshman is paired with a Senior for soccer-related mentorship or just advice on how to be a high schooler.

Thanks to all those who participated in the El Pollo Loco fundraiser in mid-September.  We saw 35 players contributing over $110 to the program.

As the Head Coach of the Boys Soccer Program, my goal is to not only inspire and direct a winning team on the pitch, but to teach each player to be successful men, to positively contributing to their communities.

The Coaching staff and the Board are currently working hard to finalize the 2019 – 2020 operating budget.  We’ll need everyone’s help to make sure we have a successful and meaningful season.

As you all know by now, Orange County Soccer Club will host an El Toro Soccer Night on Saturday, October 5.  $8 from each ticket sold will come back to the program.

On the same weekend, October 3 – 6, the Orange Count Auto Show will go on at the Anaheim Convention Center.  Tickets are $12 each and the program gets all $12! Buy your tickets now on AutoShowOC.com.  Be sure to use code ETHSBS!

I strongly encourage everyone to participate in these fun family events, especially when they benefit your soccer program!

I am always available for questions and comments, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me directly with the info below.

My sincerest thanks for allowing me and the team to be part your sons’ soccer journey.

Until next time, my best wishes,

Federico De Palma
